CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Adults 50 and up can register now through May 4 for Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s 50 Plus Games. This year’s events will be May 11-16 at venues across Clarksville, including Crow Recreation Center, Swan Lake Sports Complex, Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center, Austin Peay State University Foy Center, Ajax Turner Senior Center, D&D Black Light Mini Golf and Rossview High School track.

“The mission of the 50 Plus Games is to encourage participants 50 and over to maintain an active lifestyle and continue participation in sports and recreational activities through friendly, low-impact competition,” said Tina Boysha, Athletics Superintendent with Clarksville Parks & Recreation.

Competitors will face off for bragging rights, as well as medals in 21 events, to include horseshoes, table tennis, track and field, bowling, basketball free throw, pickleball, 3D blacklight mini golf and cycling.

Participants who register before April 17 qualify for the early bird rate of $25. The fee to register after April 18 is $30. The registration fee includes a swag bag, dinner ticket and event t-shirt. Registration for bowling is an additional $6.50 per person, per event, and registration for mini golf is an additional $4 per person.

50 Plus Games will begin with a reception at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 11 at the 50+ Activity Center/Ajax Senior Center, 953 Clark St.  A closing dinner and awards ceremony will feature a “Roarin’ 20s” theme and will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. One ticket for the closing dinner is included in the registration cost for participants, but an additional ticket for a guest may be purchased for $10 each per participant. For planning purposes, guests are limited to adults only.

“We do this event every year and it’s so much fun. It’s a great opportunity to try new things. You don’t have to participate in every event, and there’s no experience required. Just come out, make friends and be active,” Boysha said.

Volunteer scorekeepers are needed for each day of competition. No experience is necessary. To register, volunteer, or to receive more information, please visit clarksvilleparksrec.com or contact the Clarksville Parks & Recreation at (931) 645-7476. As an alternative to online registration, hard copy registration forms are available at the Parks & Recreation Office at 102 Public Square or any City recreation center.

50 Plus Games is presented by the Clarksville Parks & Recreation. The event title sponsor is The Villages at the River Club. Other sponsors include Austin Peay State University, Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center and D&D Black Light Mini Golf.
