Wreaths Across America, an annual Christmas season observance honoring the contributions of veterans buried at the City of Clarksville's Riverview Cemetery, will be held Saturday, Dec. 16.
Ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. Evergreen Christmas wreaths will be placed at the grave markers of veterans buried in Riverview, a cemetery that began in February 18o0 when Revolutionary War veteran Valentine Sevier was laid to rest there.
Through the generous public contributions of 360 wreaths, the City was able to meet its goal ensuring that every veteran buried in Riverview is remembered, said Cemetery Manager Angie Sykes, and Bill Harpel, the City's Military Liaison.
Ceremonies Saturday will be led by Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and First Lady Cynthia Pitts.
The cemetery is at 635 N. Spring St. Between 8-10 a.m., Spring Street will have one thru-lane for traffic from its entrance near Riverside Drive.
