The award-winning Northwest High School Unified Track Sectionals Team was recognized at the May 4, 2023 regular session of the Clarksville City Council.
Unified Sports joins people with, and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It is inspired by a simple principle: Training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability.
Awards
received by the team were as follows: First Place Co-Ed 4x100m Relay, First Place Co-Ed Shot Put, First Place Girls 100m Dash, First Place Girls Long Jump, Second Place Boys 100m Dash, First Place Boys Long Jump, and Overall Sectional Champions.
Here is the team roster: Treyvahn Banks, Ronnasha Berry, Dylan Campbell, Akeyla Farmer, Samirah Gonzales, Matthew Goodings, Jalaysia Hunt, Brandon Loreto, Malachi Miller, Jewaun Moffett, Levi Napier, Analiese Poe, Isaiah Shine, Kayla Taylor, JeMarrius Rodriguez, JaShaun Williams, Ce'nek Woods, and Khenadi Harkless.
Leading the way Thursday evening in congratulating the team were Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, who is a NWHS alum, and Ward 2 Councilperson Deanna McLaughlin.
