Mobile tickets are now an option for transit riders

Token Transit CTS

The City of Clarksville is now offering an alternative ticketing option for individuals who use the Clarksville Transit System (CTS). As of Dec. 17, CTS customers may purchase digital bus passes via their mobile device using the Token Transit app.

Token Transit is an industry-leading mobile ticket provider that offers a digital alternative to cash. The contact-free method provides transit riders with the option to purchase single-ride tickets or monthly passes. It also allows employers or universities to buy tickets in bulk and send them directly to individuals.

According to CTS Director Paul Nelson, the addition of Token Transit aligns with the City’s Transportation 2020+ Strategy, which is a well-researched and comprehensive plan to stay ahead of the City’s inevitable transportation and mobility needs over the next 20 years.

“Transportation 2020 is focused on the future of Clarksville and ensuring we’re doing our due diligence for the growth that is taking place now and for decades to come,” said Nelson. “As the City grows, Token Transit is just one way to make purchases easier for transit riders going to work or wherever their destination is. We’re essentially preparing for future requirements.”

How it Works

After downloading the free Token Transit mobile app through the App Store or Google Play and setting up your account, you can purchase and use your CTS pass in three easy steps:

  1. Select Clarksville Transit System (Clarksville, TN) from the participating transit agencies menu and follow the prompts to purchase your Single Ride or Monthly Pass using a credit or debit card.

  2. When you are ready to ride, tap your pass to activate it. All passes are stored in your Token Transit account.

  3. As your board, show your digital bus pass to the operator.

Transit riders will still have access to the traditional farebox option. For more information about setting up your account, visit CTS at www.cityofclarksville.com/1142/Token-Transit, or visit Token Transit at www.tokentransit.com.
