[ARCHIVED] CTS seeks input on transit center relocation

Potential Transit Relocation Site

Clarksville Transit System is seeking public input on eight properties that are candidates for the relocation of the downtown transit center through a brief online survey.

A Transit Center Relocation Feasibility Study was completed in March 2017 to identify areas in Clarksville that could be utilized for a transit center. Since then, the City of Clarksville Mayor’s Office, CTS, Clarksville Urbanized Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CUAMPO), and Clarksville Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission (CMCRPC) have explored the feasibility and purchase of land for the relocation of the transit center currently located on 200 Legion St.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible so we know where residents would like to see the downtown transit center relocated to,“ CTS Director Paul Nelson said. “Feedback will give us better insight moving forward with this project and provide CTS the input needed to help plan for the future as we grow our ridership and network.”

Of the 29 options identified in the initial study, five were identified as top contenders but are no longer feasible, requiring an additional analysis of options in the downtown area. An addendum to the March 2017 study explores additional parcels and groups of parcels that the City of Clarksville may consider for a future transfer station for CTS.
