[ARCHIVED] City to reopen driver services window

City of Clarksville blue full (3)

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –  The City’s revenue collection office will resume state driver license services on Thursday, April 1.

Citizens will once again be able to drop by the revenue service windows on the first floor at City Hall, One Public Square, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays to renew or replace their state driver license or state identification card. The office is unable to process applications for the state’s Real ID.

The expanded service, provided by the City in partnership with the Driver Services Division of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, had been suspended during service reductions related to COVID-19 restrictions.

“We are excited to resume this service because we know it can be a real time-saver for our residents,” Mayor Joe Pitts said.  “Our staff is well-trained to answer questions and handle requests for renewing or replacing driver licenses or standard state identification cards.”

The equipment and technology used is provided by the Driver Services division, and City employees enter or update customer information and take a picture. A paper document, valid for 20 days, is provided for use until a secure driver license or ID card is received in the mail. The secure driver's license or ID card is mailed to the applicant’s home within five to seven days.
